The authors (Oreshina D., Batanova P., Zabaev I., Pavlyutkina E.) of the monograph suggest a conceptualization of the parish social work, based on the results of many years of research (2010-2017). The book consists of two parts: The first part is devoted to the ethnographic study of 15 parishes in the perspective of social networks, and the second part observes two waves of a “Social Service Monitoring”, designed and implemented by the “Sociology of Religion” laboratory in cooperation with the Synodal Department for Church Charity and Social Service.
The book is of interest for scholars both in religious studies and non-profit sector and civil society. Also, the data obtained are of practical use and can be helpful for social workers, priests and the representatives of the social service departments of all levels of the Russian Orthodox Church.
