On 31 May, at the Peredelkino House of Creativity, Ivan Zabaev, head of the Laboratory “Sociology of Religion”, delivered a lecture entitled “Russian Orthodox Parishes: The Problem of Community” as part of the lecture course “What Is Community and How Does It Live?”. The lecture examined the relationship between the Orthodox parish and the community, discussed attempts to study parish communities in post‑Soviet Russia, and addressed the problematic of the parish as a community through the lens of Boltanski and Thévenot’s sociology of orders of worth.
