As part of the Workshop on the Social Study of Space, held during the off-site ‘Winter Summer School’ in ‘Mendeleevo’ (from March 6th to 9th), Moscow Region, Victoria Idolenko, a scholar of religion and junior researcher at the laboratory ‘Sociology of Religion’, delivered a lecture on the use of video analysis in social research. Her lecture introduced the theoretical foundations of this method, the specificities of working with data gathered through this method in the completed project ‘Confession as a Means of Constituting the Community of the Orthodox Church’, and also addressed the organization of fieldwork in the laboratory’s ongoing project ‘Parish Community and Liturgy: the space of the Orthodox church in communicative practices of parishioners’.
