From 13 to 27 February the fourth workshop of the joint Russian-Swiss project about the influence of religion on the models of social and economic organization in the University of Berne (Switzerland). In Russia the project is supported by the RFH (grant No. 16-23-41006).
Members of Swiss and Russian teams participated in the workshop: Dr. Stefan Huber, Karin Mykytjuk-Hitz, Ivan Zabaev, Elena Prutskova, Daria Oreshina.
One of the main workshop goals was the finalization of the research instruments (questionnaire for the quantitative survey in two countries) and discussion of the interviewing techniques and qualitative data coding and interpretation procedures. Besides, international team developed a schedule of the fieldwork in two countries. On the second day of the Workshop, Karin Mikitjuk-Hitz gave a masterclass on qualitative data coding and analysis with MAXQDA software.
Along with Swiss and Russian teams, Dr. Michael Hainz and two new participants joined the teamwork: Aurelian Plopeanu, PhD researcher in the Department of Interdisciplinary Research – Humanities and Social Sciences, Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi, Romania, and Irina Badurashvili, director of the “Georgian Centre of Population Research” (GCPR) from Georgia.
Researchers, who just joined the project, gave number of valuable recommendations on the questionnaire and fieldwork strategy. Important for the project development and extension was the discussion of conducting of the field research in Georgia and Romania within common methodological framework.
The next meeting of the international team is planned for July 2017.
