A joint Italian-Russian workshop devoted to the family studies took place in PSTGU.
On the 12th and 13th of April, 2016 a joint seminar of the “Sociology of Religion” research laboratory and Family Studies and Research University Centre at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, Milan was held in PSTGU. The theme of the workshop was “Family, Community and Social Policy: Deepening into the Theory and Methodology of Relational Approach”.
The Family Research Centre was founded in 1976 and is one of the oldest in Europe. The research conducted by the Center is based on the theory and methodology of relational sociology and is mainly concentrated in five major areas: family life cycle; community, family associations and social policy; family and culture; forms of parenthood; relationship in the couple. The Italian side was represented by the Center’s director Giovanna Rossi and leading researchers Elisabetta Cara, Sara Mazzucchelli, Matteo Moscatelli.
The workshop was organized to discuss the results of two research centers, which were focused on the family, parishes and social work. Theory and methodology of relational sociology were analyzed on Russian and Italian cases and quantitative data. The outcome of the workshop was to discuss joint research plans and future cooperation between the two centers as partners.
